Farmer with a Shotgun

What's this, you ask?

A character idea.

He's a farmer. A rather brilliant farmer who was a skilled engineer with farming equipment and a skilled hunter and builder.

They say he became obsessed with be prepared and ready for anything ever since his wife died.

What happened to her? She was killed in an attack by a weird monstrous looking mountain lion. The brave farmer stood before it and managed to kill it, but...the damage had already been done, and he was forced to bury his one and only lovely wife that was his dearest childhood sweetheart, and he was forced to take care of their daughter alone.

He wanted to do everything he could to protect her, since evil was everywhere in the world, and he knew there were far worse things then monsters out there...

Especially since he eventually came under pressure by the corrupt mayor of the town who wanted to buy up his land for profit. The farmer knew he was trying to seize the land and was trying to obtain massive power with land grabs and to control everything in the region for the sake of profit and personal gain, so he refused, yet was pretty poor. The mayor, he could tell, had greater ambitions...and knew that the mayor, if he could get away with it, would resort to terrible deed...

...And...

It came to pass that a certain scientist came to live in the region. He was once a promising rising scientist with a simple dream-boost food production and solve world hunger. He succeeded in making a very powerful growth formula, but because the people he was working for didn't test it properly and wanted results immediately, it was mishandled and shown off during an event untested...and due to the mutant large animal that it created that turned violent and savage due to it that killed many people, he became the fall guy to blame for the event by the company, and the media and the law were after him. Which is why he quietly disappeared and escaped into the world and headed for the countryside to parts unknown the first chance he got and disappeared halfway around the nation to the small farming town in the middle of nowhere, hiding the fact he was a scientist and working as a repairman.

However...the Mayor learned of who he was and what he could do, and seeing it as the opportunity he was looking for, blackmailed the scientist and made him his prisoner in order to force him to make the growth formula to create killer animals and to modify it as a way to make super soldiers out of his men so they they wouldn't have to fear the law nor the citizens and he could take over the region-and then lead a rebellion against the government which he believed, due to his lifetime of fundamentalist religious principals and listening and taking conspiracy theories on talk radio and the news' propaganda seriously, became convinced the the government was out to get him and to destroy the world and brainwash the people and cause violence everywhere that he greatly feared and believed they were aliens sent from Mars to control human history and are the masterminds behind very terrible things and the heads of a massive Satanic cult that was controlling so many terrible deeds and even the government and their evil experiments, so...he wanted the scientist to give him a way to fight back.

And on top of that, he used it as an opportunity to create monsters and superpowered thugs to take over the region and force everything under his thumb...and he had his men steal the Farmer's daughter as leverage to buy up the land and threatened not only to experiment on her and make her into a monster girl to sell to Japan, but also to burn down his farm and kill the Farmer if he resisted or refused.

The Farmer, seeing the situation was serious, couldn't stand on the sidelines anymore.

...Which is why he gathered up his tool, gathered up his farming equipment gadgets he's been working on for years for such just a moment, and gathering his animal allies which he had a special connection with as his closest allies that had been taken and made into monsters by the scientist yet still regarded him as a friend and only wanted to help him shut down the mayor and his operations and stop his rebellion against the government and the war it would cause, and most importantly, the Farmer would go through hell and back like a determined parent to risk life and limb to save his dear precious daughter from such cruel men.

His journey would bring him up against bizarre criminals, weird mutant animal hybrids, run amok killer machines, animated killer objects like evil haunted bales of hay and taxis possessed by reckless drivers and insane bureaucrats and even aliens, dinosaurs, dark evil ungodly supervillains, and even the horrors of the internet and a crazy cowboy villain who commits the ultimate crime of square dancing in a round house, and living killer big cities, and deal with the highest of highs, the lowest of lows, travel all over the world, and even across time and space itself and even through the internet's sea of memes, to get his daughter back from the people who kidnapped her. And he's not giving up until the job is done, until she's safe, and until those responsible have been brought to justice.
